By removing the air, the wine is preserved for several days or more until it can be further enjoyed. This particular vacuum model, the Sterling, features a die-cast metal upper lever for superior strength and is completely finished in brightly polished chrome. The Rabbit Lever Vacuum Pump was selected by Fortune Magazine as one of the 25 best new products of 2003, and won an award in 2004 from the International Housewares Association. Metrokane includes two push-button stoppers with the pump in a clear bubble package. To use the Rabbit pump, first insert one of the stoppers firmly and completely into the bottle mouth. Next, place the vacuum pump on the stopper, grip the two side levers in one hand and pump the top lever repeatedly with the other hand until the air from the bottle is removed.
